How to Prevent Tartar- The tooth itself is a dental plaque that hardens and grows little by little. Irritation and inflammation will become easier for a person if this is allowed. Corals that are formed, even the slightest, only dentists are able to eliminate them.

Causes of tartar

Corals have serious effects on the health of the mouth and body as a whole, especially if it grows above the gum line. Because this is the right place for the bacteria to nest, then infiltrate into the gums that make it damaged and irritated.
One of the mild effects of tartar is gingivitis aka gingivitis. After gingivitis occurs, while tartar remains, gums are just waiting for time to develop periodontitis. The disease is pus-shaped pockets that arise between the gums and teeth.

Another dangerous effect is the risk of heart disease and stroke that seems to be related to gum health. Suspected, bacteria and microorganisms found in dental plaque can enter the blood tissue. These conditions can make the arteries clogged. If blood flow is blocked, then the risk of getting heart disease and stroke is thought to be higher.

Preventing and Treating Tartar

Some actions that can be done so that the tartar is not rampant in the mouth so that bad effects can be prevented, among others:
  • Brushing teeth
  • Brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes is considered to prevent the growth of tartar. Use a soft toothbrush and be able to reach the back of the molars.
  • Use fluoride-containing toothpaste
  • Toothpaste containing fluoride is thought to prevent plaque from becoming a tartar. This type of toothpaste is also more effective in repairing damaged enamel. It would be better if the toothpaste used also contains triclosan capable of fighting bacteria that reside in dental plaque.
  • Flossing
  • Cleaning teeth with threads or flossing is the most effective solution to clean dental plaque that is on the sidelines of the tooth so as to reduce the possibility of the formation of tartar. Do this even though it is brushing your teeth routine as required above.
  • Take care of food
  • The bacteria in the mouth is closely related to the type of food consumed. They develop well when sweet and starchy foods are consumed. Bacteria will emit harmful acids if met with both types of food above. The best way to reduce the possibility of tartar is to limit the types of food.
  • Avoid smoking
  • Smoking habits increase the risk of tartar formation in the suckers.
Because removing tartar can only be done by a dentist, visiting a scheduled dental clinic is the best way. Visiting the dentist once every six months is highly recommended to maintain oral hygiene.
